Welcome to our big Dominican Travel Diary! Mickael and I are finally getting over our jetlag, but I know I’m still really sad being back home and not under my favourite palm trees no more… It’s hard not to miss those crystal blue seas and crisp white beaches, but I am more than happy to take you back with us in today’s post! Hope you have fun reading our Dominican adventures.

It took us quite a long time to find the perfect location for our trip, as I really wanted to go some place that had tall palm trees, white beaches and my good old pal The Sun. We finally decided on the Dominican Republic, even though the both of us aren’t crazy about big resorts as we feel they are a bit in-authentic and we’re basically too young for them. Thing with the Dominican Republic is, most of the hotels are in fact large resorts. We did manage to find this one, Paradisus, that has all the charme and authenticity of a boutique hotel, even though it is rather large.

We went for the Royal Service feature, which basically means you’re treated like royalty. If you opt for this extra service, you can enjoy a private beach, private swimming pool, a VIP restaurant to dine in and really good service thanks to your own butler. It might sounds a little luxurious, but these things are what made our stay at this place so much more enjoyable! I can really recommend going for the Royal Service if you’re looking for that extra little something.

The flight

We’re both not the biggest fans of flying – well, I like to fly once I’m up there, but must admit that the thought of spending 10 hours high in the sky never not scares me at first. Luckily, thanks to TUIfly, we got to our destination in the quickest and most comfortable way possible. TUIfly offers Premium Club upgrades on its Dreamliner jet, the plane we flew to the Dominican with. We didn’t want to deal with not having enough leg space, which is never really an issue for me (perks of being a short girl) but very much so for my boyfriend. On-flight entertainment and a really good meal had us all relaxed and cosy, so we really enjoyed the flight.

Once arrived at PUJ Punta Cana Airport, our driver awaited us. I’d booked our return taxi trip ahead online through the company Go Dominican Travel. I always like to be as prepared as possible, and as I didn’t wanted to deal with the trouble of finding a taxi for a good price, I decided to check online and book ahead. Go Dominican has fair prices and the perfect customer service: managing director Camille got in touch before take-off to wish us a good flight and checked back regularly to see if there was anything we needed. After getting out of the plane and into a very humid Punta Cana, we hopped into a massive car and drove right to our hotel. The company also offers tours and excursions to must-visit places such as the gorgeous Saona Island, a spot I really want to visit during a next stay! Our driver came to pick us up when we were heading back to the airport as well, and everything went perfectly. If you’re heading to the Dominican yourself, you know who to call 馃槈

A perfect flight, a warm welcome and a truly wonderful hotel. We spent our days in the sun, finally chilling on the beach, soaking up the sunshine. The Dominican is a place people go to when they truly want to relax and that is exactly what we did. Scroll down for some more travel shots 馃檪
